Final Project- Video Art

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2Z7R1AROUM For my video art project, I decided to use footage from the past couple weeks that I've recorded into a montage. With "What a Wonderful World" playing on a high speed, the video gives a light and fun feel. This video depicts my feelings towards Tampa and my first two semesters here at college. I thought this was a good way to recap my first year's memories and the skills I have learned from FMX 211.

B5- Music

Music has always been a way of bringing people together through the power of sound and feelings. This topic was probably one of my favorites, as I constantly listen to music whether its walking to class, doing homework, or even trying to fall asleep. Here are the 5 movements I picked and videos to go with them.  Disco: September by Earth, Wind, and Fire https://youtu.be/Gs069dndIYk   This song goes along with disco’s upbeat party atmosphere makes you want you dance. This regular bass beat combined with an influence of soul reflects the technology used.  Punk: Me First by Real Friends  https://youtu.be/wkdoATNbEWk This song uses punk’s loud, fast, and aggressive sounds of technology.  Nineties: I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys https://youtu.be/4fndeDfaWCg A side of pop and alternative combined in the nineties creating songs like this one and using technology from its slower beats.  Electronic: So close by NOTD https://youtu.be/5uV82m-U7Vg This DJ styled

A7- Performance Art

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fXkinBSMGA After being shown many performances by Marina Abramović, I was very moved. Her work speaks wonders, doing even the simplest of things. I like that she's mostly allowing other people to do things in her work, seeing what human kind's potential lives up to be. Some other artists that inspired my work are Yoko Ono in her investigating identities and Chris Burden. Burden was bold and always too risks, something that I hoped to do in my performance. Flesh will be my communication in my video, as the words written on my body will speak louder than I could ever do. People don't always see how someone feels from the outside, it takes a message as big as writing it with markers for people to get the point and see what's really going on. I think this was a healthy exercise for people to think about the feelings we get from technology. Unfortunately, not many people came by on campus since it was a quieter Sunday here. People passing b

A6- Art & Technology

Image
I used a collaboration of my knowledge of sign language and technology into a creative twist for this project. When thinking about what body parts I should use, I thought this was a great chance to use an old song I learned in sign language as a story. The song goes, "I'm on top of the world, waiting on this for awhile." I tried to incorporate movement to the signs, as no sign is actually still, but printing them out became a challenge.

A5- Grid Art

Image
For my grid art, I used a 30 x 30 grid and attached beads in order to make a sailor's boat. This piece was inspired by Tampa's very own, Gasparilla, as I tried to use the most colorful beads to make a blend of the sky and water surrounding the ship.

A3- Flip Book

https://youtu.be/O90uOlZuuW4 This piece represents daily life, struggles, little things spiraling, but also the simple things coming together and always moving on. A flip book is a continuous thing, needing slight changes to occur to make the full picture and tell a story. Life is the same, always slowly changing and turning into new things.

A4- Electronic Essay

Evolution of the Automobile             In a mere 127 years, the simple horse and carriage evolved into the automobile, now with the technologies to drive itself, use the sun’s power, park itself, and have a GPS installed ready to go anywhere. The first automobile ever invented is still a controversial topic and now a matter of opinion to most people. Karl Benz however, is given credit to being the first inventor. He was from Germany and created this technology around 1886. He patented his Benz Patent-Motorwagen, making cars available during the early 20 th century.             The simple need for transportation has always been a part of our history. From the earliest of times, people needed to get from one place to another for work, housing, and visiting. Although we evolved so much in this past century, we still have the same necessities. The convenience of a vehicle was practical for people to instantly go along with the idea. Benz’s first car was a gas-powere
